The app step by step · Chapter 25

Attachments

You simply drag pictures and files into the editor, paste them with Ctrl + V or choose them via Picture or file in the toolbar. nexlore puts them next to the note and writes an ordinary Markdown link for them.

Where your files end up

They go into the Attachments folder next to the note. A pasted picture is named like the note with a number, such as Shopping list 1.png, and other files keep their name.

When you move the note into another folder, its attachments come along, as long as no other note uses them.

What nexlore does with your files

Place and device disappear

When you upload photos and videos, nexlore removes where and with what they were taken. The picture itself stays unchanged, and the operator can switch this off.

iPhone photos become readable

Photos in HEIC format get a WebP copy that every browser can show, and the original stays right next to it.

nexlore spots duplicate files

If the same file is already in the space, nexlore links that one instead of storing it twice.

PDFs can be searched

Search finds text in PDFs too, and a hit takes you straight to the file.

Nothing is run

SVG, HTML and PDF are only offered as downloads, and the same goes for a file that claims to be a picture but isn't.

Storage stays in view

The operator sets how big a file may be and how much room every account has.

Keeping track of all your files

A link to a file leads to a page of its own with a preview, download, “Used in” and delete. On the Files page, under Attachments, you see every file of a space and how much room you use. With “Only files no note uses” you find the ones that are left over.

Lore saysAfter an upload nexlore tells you what it did, for example that place and device were removed from the photo or that the same file was already there. If a file can't be checked completely, you'll hear about that too.
