Highlights and comments

This chapter is about two small pairs of characters that go beyond Markdown. One highlights text like a marker pen, and the other hides it.

Marking what matters, like with a highlighter

For this you put two equals signs before and after the text.

Important: ==add the salt only after the autolyse==.

In the editor, the highlight button in the bar above your selection sets the signs for you.

Notes to yourself that vanish when reading

Whatever stands between two pairs of percent signs stays in the file but doesn't appear when someone reads the note. That's useful for reminders to yourself, half-finished thoughts or anything that doesn't belong on a public page.

A comment can sit in the middle of a line or stretch over several lines.
